Geula Hanin

Group Leader

Geula Hanin is a developmental physiologist with a long standing interest in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying lactation and early-life nutrition, and how these processes shape long-term health outcomes.

She earned her Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where she investigated MicroRNAs targeting the cholinergic system which modulate anxiety, hypertension and liver metabolism under the supervision of Prof. Hermona Soreq.

Geula completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge in the laboratory of Prof. Anne Ferguson-Smith, where she studied genomic imprinting and the regulation of postnatal nutritional resources.

Throughout her scientific career Geula was the recipient of numerous awards and prestigious fellowships, including the Royal Society Newton International Fellowship, FEBS Long-Term Fellowship and the MRC Career Development Award.
